PHARRELL'S LATEST FASHION COLLABORATION FEATURES HANDBAGS SHAPED LIKE TRAINS

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it involves any conductor hats.

Pharrell is a man of so many collaborations that it’s nearly impossible to keep track of them all. Both in his musical career (he’s made records with Daft Punk, Miley Cyrus, Gwen Stefani and many more) and in his growing fashion empire (Comme des Garçons, Adidas, Uniqlo and Louis Vuitton have all called upon his design talents), Pharrell isn’t only a tastemaker, he’s an innovator, which is an invaluable asset to brands the world over.
The latest label to enlist Pharrell for an accessories collaboration is Moynat, a French luxury leather goods brand that, while still relatively under the radar, is part of the LVMH conglomerate and recently underwent a revival thanks to Creative Director Ramesh Nair. The brand entered the U.S. market earlier this year with a pop-up shop in the New York branch of hip concept store Dover Street Market, and in continuing its play for the cool kids, Pharrell seems like a fitting partner for its upcoming capsule.
To pay tribute to Moynat’s heritage as a travel trunk purveyor, Nair and Pharrell have created a range of bags in the shapes of vintage trains, according to WWD. The limited-edition bags will be made from unusual materials — namely acrylic resin and carved ebony wood — and will be priced like true collectors items: $12,830 for the resin version and $4,105 for the wood. In addition, smaller items (like silk scarves and leather pouches) with train motifs will be available to supplement the collection. They’ll be sold at Colette in Paris during Fashion Week, as well as in Moynat boutiques in Paris and London.
A spokesperson for Moynat did not immediately get back to us to confirm the details of the collaboration. 
Nair told WWD that this may just be the first of Moyat’s collaborations with Pharrell, as he’s looking to position the label with a younger, more experimental customer. Here's hoping that the next range includes a Vivienne Westwood-esque conductor's hat.

Well, this is certainly one way to takethe investment piece to the next level: An Hermès Birkin sold at auction on Tuesday for $185,000.
The bag, sold through Heritage Auction in Los Angeles, was pretty rare. Made of matte Himlayan Nilo, the bag featured 18k gold hardware and 242 diamonds with a total weight of 9.84 carats, so it's at least a little bit fancier than your run of the mill Birkin. Still, $185k will buy you a house — a nice house, at that — in a lot of markets.

Want to become a world famous model without all crushing rejection and terrible Fashion Week hours? Good news! For the second season running, Marc by Marc Jacobs has turned to Instagram and Twitter to cast the models for its spring 2015 campaign. Apparently the results of the first one were strong enough to pull a repeat.
The casting call runs from now until the 26th... which would be Friday. So if you want in, here's the deal: Set your Instagram or Twitter privacy settings to public and upload a pic with the hashtag #castmemarc. That's it. According to the Terms & Conditions — which, yes, you should read — using that hashtag is an acknowledgement that Marc Jacobs International can use your image for its campaign purposes.
According to a rep for the brand, the fall/winter 2014 campaign elicited about 70,000 submissions from aspiring Marc models. Last time around, fortune definitely favored the offbeat, with a number of the models rocking pink, orange and blue hair to go along with the BMX-inspired collection. 

We knew it was coming: The Kardashian-West clan landed in Paris this morning just in time for Fashion Week, baby North included. While West took in the Dries Van Noten show solo on Wednesday afternoon, we knew it was only a matter of time before the ladies of the family landed in the front row of a major show. 
Well, it's happened: Alexander Wang presented his spring 2015 collection for Balenciaga in a tented structure between the Palais de Tokyo and Musee d'Art Moderne, with all three Wests in attendance. InStyle's Eric Wilson tweeted that North even received some air kisses from Carine Roitfeld. Oh, to be the world's most stylish child. (Besides Wang's niece, Aila, of course — we wonder if she and Nori have had any play dates yet.)

CHLOE MORETZ GETS A HEAD START ON THE '70S TREND


The '70s are coming back in a big way next spring, and while Kenzo's resort 2015 collection wasn't an entirely '70s affair, consistent style star Chloe Moretz mixed two pieces from it in a distinctly '70s way. She chose the look for AOL's BUILD Speaker Series event on Tuesday.
The intarsia sweater, to me, is one of the decade's most timeless and casual pieces. It looks cool (and not costumey) paired with this subtly nautical high-waisted skirt. The slit keeps it fun and youthful. The hair, bouncy and feathery, could be a modernized nod to Farrah Fawcett's iconic blowout.
It's an example of how we can all get on board with the trend now — at the risk, of course, of it becoming stale by the time the spring 2015 collections actually hit stores.
Color, pattern, embellishment, athleticwear: Those were the motifs that appeared again and again at London Fashion Week, and perhaps no label combined them quite as deliciously as Mother of Pearl, which staged its second Fashion Week presentation the day before editors caught their flights to Milan.
Mother of Pearl is almost old news in London's emerging design scene. The label was founded in 2002 by Maia Norman, a fashion stylist (and the former long-time partner of artist Damien Hirst), and Sue Foulston, a designer who also teaches at Central Saint Martins. In 2008, it relaunched with a more modern, sportier vibe, which continues today under the creative direction of Amy Powney, who has been working with the label since she graduated from Kingston University eight years ago. (She became creative director in 2010.)

The silhouettes are easy to wear, the prints are attractive and distinctive (each season, it partners with a new artist), and the price points are competitive and wide-ranging: A printed sweatshirt or jersey lounge pants will set you back less than $300, while a silk day-to-evening dress or crystal-embellished coatmight cost $1,000 or more than twice that.

ELLE FANNING LOOKS EVEN BETTER AS A BRUNETTE

Applause.


Elle Fanning — real-life Disney princess, fashion favorite, star of Opening Ceremony's NYFW play — is a blonde no more. The younger Fanning debuted a blunt auburn cut on Sunday at the premiere of "The Boxtrolls." It rocks.
Not that I didn't like Fanning's platinum hair while she had it. It was part and parcel of her pretty, ethereal aesthetic. But the darker shade just works so dang well with her pinkish coloring. As a pale, pink undertoned blonde myself, I say this from a place of love and empathy, not judgment: Without a good eyeliner or lipstick to define things, our faces kind of... disappear. Thanks to the auburn, her lovely features immediately pop.
The new cut, paired with a sleek all-black outfit from Oscar de la Renta, is also decidedly more grown-up than her past looks in a '90s-cool-girl kind of way. (That said, let's all just remember that Fanning is just 16, so no need to rush her into premature adulthood here.) 
Let's hope she keeps the look well beyond whatever role she might have done it for.

DIANE KRUGER WORE CHANEL COUTURE TO ACCEPT FRENCH ORDER OF ARTS AND LETTERS

Understated but always fashion-forward, Kruger is a master of coming up with the right look for the occasion.


There are times when a bit of fashion daring is called for. On other occasions, a more conservative approach is in better taste. Accepting a medallion from the Ministry of Culture in Paris is one of the latter.
Diane Kruger, the 38-year-old German actress -- who's earned a fair amount of respect from the fashion industry for looking consistently good on the red carpet without the help of a stylist -- was awarded the French Order of Arts and Letters in a small formal ceremony on Monday. Kruger dressed carefully for the occasion, in a 2007 Chanel haute couture look (hat tip: Red Carpet Fashion Awards) and black patent leather pumps with a pointed toe. Her beauty look was equally polished: Shiny barrel curls, neatly groomed (and filled in) eyebrows, a pink lip and just a touch of glitter around the eyes.
Jewelry was, fittingly, kept to a minimum -- drawing all eyes to that shiny new medallion on her left lapel.

Everyone loves a creative hack. In the beauty world, there are tons of time-saving, money-saving ways to re-purpose products, plus techniques you can try that don't require you to have the makeup brush prowess of Pat McGrath. For this feature, we will pick the brains of beauty's best and brightest to try to make your life easier.
A few weeks ago I grabbed coffee with Dean Fournier, the head artist of cosmetics brand Lorac, and he was a font of beauty hack knowledge. (A Lor-hack? Sorry.) For example, he swears that Arm & Hammer's Advance White Toothpaste with Baking Soda and Peroxide -- he was very specific about the brand -- will dry up a breakout in two nights flat.
But wait, there’s more! Fournier had a pretty clever trick for making your hair line look a little bit more groomed. “What?” you say in disbelief. “A makeup artist giving out hair hacks?” Yes, it’s true. And this one is borrowed from his skills in eyebrow maintenance.
“When doing a tight pony tail or up-do, use a matte eye shadow that matches your hair color to shade the skin lightly to create the perfect hairline or to fill in any tight areas in the hair to make it appear fuller,” he advises.
Before you scoff, I actually tried this. My hair is at baby bob length right now, and I have enough in back to pull it into a stubby pony. But I have a weird baby hair situation on the left side of my forehead, which makes my hairline look uneven compared to the right.  I put on some moisturizing serum, then mixed “Buff” and "Light Brown" from Lorac’s fabulous new Pro Palette 2. I brushed on the shadow while the serum was still a bit tacky, and blended. It was subtle, but could be a great trick for photos. 
The downside of learning this technique? All I notice now are people's uneven hairlines.

Make sure the sleeves don’t hang past your upper wrist and the coat has a slim silhouette to keep it from looking too bulky.
